Thought least I am yet I have courageously penned down this article as I observed in my twelve years of Christians life the students and servants who were coming to seminary or ministry with vague ideas and wrong motives. And some even did not know where they were heading towards and what they would do? Thus I humbly dedicate this article to re-evaluate motives in His service for all who has joined, is joining or was in the Bible school. “Search me,O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts.” Psalms 139:23
1. Job and Property: Regrettably most of the God’s people use the term job for ministry. When the people think ministry as job they have in their minds all the benefits the world is availing by job. The Greek word used for “ministry” is “daikonia” which means lowly service, but people have made it highly service for their selfish ambition .They made it business, projects and jobs without Christian values. I heard someone said, “When Christianity came to India it became PROJECT.” The ministry is not tantamount to the job or project which the people are doing for livelihood in this world. In fact Apostle Paul made tents as well he preached the gospel and founded the churches in Asia Minor. He along with Aquila and Priscilla made the tents for his sustenance. Acts 18:2-3 “I coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. Ye yourselves know that these hands ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring ye ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:33-35
JESUS CHRIST IS NOT THE EMPLOYER WHO OFFERS EMPLOYMENT, BUT THE SAVIOUR WHO GIVES SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE. The Carnal and professing Christians evaluate and count the success of the ministry upon how much bank balance and property one has earned and not on how one has glorified Christ and bore the fruits for His Kingdom. Sadly many come to Christ in order to find jobs or some kind of business and comforts of life. If they have such mentality they will do possibly all the evil things what others are doing in jobs and business in the world. In fact Simon Peter and Andrew left their business of fishing and followed Jesus the Savior contradictorily today’s servants want some business from ministry. The early Christians sold out the property and distributed paradoxically today’s servants are devouring the mission’s property. Christ never promised health, wealth, jobs, business and prosperity. The false preachers of Charismatic and Pentecostal movement are responsible for such kind of chaotic atmosphere around us. They have been deceiving the ignorant people by preaching the false gospel of health, wealth, miracles, and satanic prophecies. Jesus Christ knew what is in the hearts of people. John 2:23-25 and 6:60-66 pictures the false disciples who did not believe in Jesus for salvation and eternal life rather they were following him for bread and miracles. The disciples who were following for bread and miracle had bogus faith and consequently they gave up their faith and stopped following Jesus. He incarnated to offer salvation and to secure the salvation of God’s chosen people. “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10; Jn 6:35-46 Another delusion is ruling over the minds of people that whoever studies the Bible or theology must be a pastor. But any one can study the Bible whether he is a pilot, doctor, farmer or a business man. He or she can learn the Bible to know God properly and worship him rightly. The ministry is not only carrying the bags on the shoulders and crossing the border but anyone can witness Christ anywhere. (Mangesh A Rayarum)- continue
